Sewage treatment is the process or system adopted for removing/reduction of contaminants from wastewater, generated from domestic activity and household sewage. The sewage treatment system includes physical, chemical, biological processes advanced treatment process to maintain pH between acceptable ranges, remove of total suspended solids and reduction of biochemical oxygen demand to make environmentally safe treated water. The sewage treatment process usually generates solid waste or called sewage sludge, that has to undergo further treatment before being suitable for disposal or land application. Sewage treatment may also be referred to as wastewater treatment.
